Our Story
Five people.
One machine each.
No two the same.
Karma Studio began in 2017 with a market pitch on Brick Lane, one sewing machine and a rack of dead-stock denim. Today we're still a small team — three seamstresses, two artists — hunting vintage across the UK and India and reworking it by hand into pieces that only ever exist once.

Sourcing
We buy from estate sales and dead-stock warehouses across the UK, and from family-run resale traders in India — silk, cotton and heavy Banarasi sarees that have already had one long life. Nothing is bought new. Nothing is commissioned. Everything starts as something someone else was finished with.

The Studio
The workroom is small on purpose: three seamstresses, two artists and a row of machines that have been repaired more times than we can count. Every jacket is cut, patched, painted and embroidered by hand here — no factory, no outsourcing, no sample run.

Reworking
The garment tells us what it wants to be. A faded Carhartt becomes a painted statement jacket; a torn saree becomes a wrap skirt, a cropped top and a cushion. Because the raw material is never repeatable, the finished piece can't be either.
Sustainability
The greenest garment is the one that already exists
Zero-waste cutting
Denim offcuts become patch panels and pocket linings. Saree borders become cushion trims. Thread ends go into the embroidery hoops.
No print runs
We never reproduce a piece. No restocks, no size curve pushed out to a factory, no dead inventory heading for landfill.
Sourced, not made
Every base garment is second-hand or dead-stock, bought from people we know by name in Kent, East London and India.
Repair, don't replace
Bring a Karma piece back and we'll mend it. Packaging is plastic-free and reused wherever we can get away with it.
Every Friday
New pieces drop on TikTok Live first. First to comment gets first dibs — then the rest go online and into the shops.
